Seasonal Field Instructor/Guide
Ben was born and raised in Alaska, where he grew up closely connected to the land through subsistence hunting and fishing. That early bond evolved into a passion for outdoor recreation in high school, when he took up cross-country running, skiing, backpacking, and backcountry skiing. After graduation, Ben dove deeper, getting into rock and ice climbing, completing a NOLS semester, and enrolling in the Outdoor Studies program at Alaska Pacific University, where he earned his degree with a focus in snow science.
He’s now pursuing a career in outdoor education, inspired by the mentors who helped him build the skills and confidence to explore the outdoors. Though initially drawn to adventure for the thrill, Ben has come to value the connections and community built through shared experience in wild places. Ben is passionate about using outdoor experiences to foster deeper relationships between people, the land, and the ecosystems we all depend on.
Ben maintains the following certifications:
- Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
- Leave No Trace Master Educator
- Top Rope Guide (Professional Climbing Guides Institute)
- Rock Rescue Training (NOLS)
- Avalanche Recreation Level 2
