Winter Outdoor Recreation
Learning to play in the snow will keep us active and healthy throughout the year, and develop a love for our Alaskan winters. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing are just some of the activities we’ll get to learn and experience. Winter self care, recognizing and treating cold weather injuries, decision making, learning about avalanche hazards and emergency responses are all components to this winter outdoor recreation course.
Each class will start and end at the NOLS campus located at 5805 Farm Loop Rd, Palmer, AK 99645.
Onward & Upward will provide transportation for all field trips, snacks, and all necessary equipment for these winter recreational activities. Students should come prepared to spend the course time outdoors. Warm winter layers and boots are recommended, but can be provided upon request.
