Field Instructor/Guide
As a recent graduate from Alaska Pacific University with my bachelors in outdoor studies, minor
in counseling psychology, and concentration in snow science, I was 15 years old when I was
introduced to the outdoors as a form of therapy. I grew up in Long Beach, California and
snowboarding became my very first hobby that had turned me away from the inner city and
towards the mountains. Ever since that first day on the mountain I had admired the feeling of
peace and belonging it brought me. When I turned 18 I had decided to move to Alaska to pursue
the outdoor industry and the mountains that surround this beautiful place. Attending Alaska Pacific University, I went down the path to becoming a professional guide, taking all the expeditions and courses needed to develop various hard and soft skills expected of a professional of the outdoor industry. Along with the development of my skills within the outdoor profession I also had interest in childcare and psychology; which led me into becoming a kindergarten teacher right after graduation; and now working here at Onward and Upward!
